The old white strat. This started
as a Charvel body & neck, back in 1981, but has undergone some changes. The
neck twisted, so it sports a $40 Ebay special ebony- boarded maple neck.
Duncan Alnico2 Pro pickups wired with the "Strat lover's" setup from
Guitarnuts, so I can have
the bridge in series with neck or middle. The bridge is the only Fender
part.
The A2Pros give the guitar a smooth tone, very sweet, a great Strat sound. This is the latest iteration, there is an entire (black) pickguard that has the nastiest Strat pickup ever made (the Dimarzio SDS-1). I used to have that and a TDS-1 (a weird thing, chrome covered, way overwound ceramic like the SDS-1 but coil tapped) in the neck with a FS-1 (another overwound Dimarzio) occasionally in the middle or the bridge. I have an old recording of me in the Army long ago wailing on that SDS-1 and a MXR Distortion+ through a Fender Silverface Princeton. It's amazing I was never tossed out of the barracks. |
